About Akron Alternative Academy
The Akron Alternative Academy program is designed for students who are seeking an Akron Public Schools' high school diploma outside of the traditional high school setting. The Alternative Academy provides methods and techniques that are different from the traditional high school to promote academic success, including:
- small-group direct instruction
- individual tutoring
- independent study
- computer-assisted instruction
- intensive interventions to prepare for the Ohio Graduation Test
The program provides on-site student services through Greenleaf Family Services. Special programming is provided for pregnant and parenting students, students with mental health needs, and students maintaining a drug-free lifestyle. Parents can sign up for text updates from AAA by texting @9bcaa2 to the number 81010. If you sign up, you will receive reminders about school activities and important dates.
